What counts toward the free tier?
Searching bills, reading AI summaries, and tracking up to 5 bills at once are free forever — no card, no trial clock. Real-time alerts, AI impact analysis and programmatic API/MCP access are the paid tier.
What happens if I go over my monthly API allowance?
Pro (10,000 API calls/mo, then $2/1k) and Scale (webhooks + SLA) meter overage per 1,000 calls instead of hard-stopping, so a busy integration doesn't break mid-month. The free plan's 500 calls/mo simply caps out — upgrade for more.
What's the difference between Pro and Scale?
Pro fits a public-affairs team, association or analyst monitoring the bills that matter to them, with real alerts and tailored AI impact analysis. Scale is for platforms and agent products calling the API at volume — 10x the calls, 5x the rate limit, state-legislature access and an uptime SLA.
Do I need a paid plan to use the API or MCP server?
No — reads (search, get bill, summary, legislator) work anonymously at a throttled rate, so anyone can try the API or point an agent at the MCP server before committing. A Pro or Scale key raises those limits and unlocks tailored AI impact analysis.
Do you offer refunds?
We don't issue partial-month refunds except where required by law, but you can cancel anytime from billing settings and keep paid access through the period you've already paid for.
